As the 1448H (2026) Umrah season commenced, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah announced radical updates to the individual e-visa system, now fully integrated with the "Nusuk" platform. The Ministry clarified that obtaining an Umrah visa is no longer possible without booking a complete package through Nusuk, which includes a verified hotel stay and internal transportation arrangements. The Umrah season started on May 31, 2026, and will run until April 7, 2027, pausing briefly during the Hajj period. Citizens from 66 designated countries can apply directly via the Nusuk app or website, while other nationalities must apply through authorized travel agents or the "Muqam" platform. Strict conditions were imposed, including a passport validity of at least six months and a mandatory meningococcal ACWY vaccination for all pilgrims aged one year and above. In a progressive move, the Ministry affirmed that women can now perform Umrah without a male guardian (Mahram) as long as they book an approved package. The new system also facilitates visa issuance for elderly individuals and children, ensuring a seamless digital experience that eliminates long queues and paperwork, thereby streamlining the entire Umrah journey for millions of Muslims worldwide.
